Things to do in Alexandra Palace
It’s fair to say that the main attraction at Alexandra Palace is its namesake venue, but there are a few other reasons to head over to the area too.
For fans of the beautiful game, Tottenham Hotspur run a shuttle bus service from Alexandra Palace station over to their brand-new stadium. As well as world class football on show every other week, the stadium also plays host to American Football games as part of the National Football League’s (NFL) increasing presence in the UK. Fans can also arrange tours of the brand-new stadium and visit the club museum.
Surrounding Ally Pally is Alexandra Park, 196 acres of green space that’s been available to the north London public since 1863. Home to hundreds of different plants, animals, insects and fungi, the space is a vital eco area for north London. Like the Palace itself, the park plays host to various events throughout the year, including all sorts of food and craft festivals and farmers’ markets. The annual fireworks show in November is attended by tens of thousands.
As for things to do in Alexandra Palace itself, you can find something different on virtually every day. An ice rink plays host to visitors as well as the Haringey Huskies ice hockey team, while there are all sorts of attractions for kids, including a skate park, boating lake, pitch and putt and Go Ape. The palace is probably best known for its live performances, though, with live music, poetry, comedy and pantomime just some of the events available to enjoy. In addition to these great activities, Red Bull organises the Red Bull Soapbox Race at Ally Pally and Great Northern was proud to be the Official Travel Sponsor of the Red Bull Soapbox Race 2019.
