Carnet tickets are great for flexible travel. They allow you to purchase five or ten Off-Peak tickets in advance, without needing to specify dates at point of purchase.  

Before you board the train, simply write the date of travel in the box on the ticket and enjoy the flexibility of this ticket type.  

Our Off-Peak Carnet tickets offer a 10% discount on Standard Class travel, compared to the price of an Off-Peak Day Return ticket for journeys between London and:

When can I use this ticket type? 

On weekdays Off-Peak Carnet tickets can’t be used on trains arriving in London before 10:00. From London, these tickets cannot be used before 09:30, plus between 16:30 and 19:01 for journeys to Cambridge, Royston, Letchworth Garden City, Huntingdon, St Neots, Hitchin, Stevenage, Bedford, Leagrave, Luton, Luton Airport Parkway, Harpenden and St Albans City. There are no time restrictions at weekends or Bank Holidays.

Things to remember  

  • Tickets are valid for 3 months from date of issue. 
  • You must validate the ticket using permanent black ink before boarding the train. Writing the date of travel with 2-digit numerical values only, e.g. 07 09 for travel on 7th September. 
  • Attempted fraudulent use will result in withdrawal of this ticket, payment of full fare for the journey being made and a possible criminal charge. 
  • Only 10 complete unused Off-Peak Carnet tickets will be considered for a refund. 
  • Lost or stolen individual tickets will not be replaced. 
  • Break of journey is permitted. 
  • Off-Peak Carnet tickets are valid at any time on weekends and Public Holidays. 
  • There are no additional discounts for Railcard holders.
