Things to do in King’s Lynn

King’s Lynn has made an effort to retain the presence of its prestigious maritime past, and you’ll find evidence of this everywhere as you walk around the cobbled streets and magnificent buildings of the town.

If you’re interested in history, you won’t be short of things to do in King’s Lynn. For families, a trip is probably best started at the Stories of Lynn museum – an engaging, interactive exhibition opened in 2016 that tells the tales of the explorers, seafarers, mayors and miscreants that have formed the storied past of the area. There’s also the Lynn Museum - which heads even further back in the town’s history with prehistoric archaeology on show – and True’s Yard Fisherfolk Museum for further maritime study. For anyone interested in famous figures, William Shakespeare is rumoured to have played in the town, while Daniel Defoe is also said to have been a visitor.

Away from the museums and back to the present day, you can visit the popular Vancouver Quarter for shopping, or head to one of the numerous entrainment venues in the town where you’ll be able to find regular live theatre, comedy and concerts. Once night falls, a trip to the town centre will give you the chance to see the Lynn Lumière illuminations – six beautiful art installations that document the town’s history.

With an abundance of heritage sites, maritime attractions and picture-perfect views to offer, King’s Lynn makes a wonderful UK break location. So why not book your train travel today? For more information on things to do in King’s Lynn, you can visit the Visit West Norfolk website.
