Engineering work, part of the East Coast Upgrade, is continuing throughout 2021, closing all lines to and from London Kings Cross on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and between Peterborough and Grantham on Saturday and Sunday.

Grand Central

Friday 4 June

Trains will start and terminate at Finsbury Park and will not run between Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross

Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 June

No Grand Central service will run on these days.

Great Northern and Thameslink:

Friday 4 June

Before 13:45:

Trains will not run between London St Pancras International and Finsbury Park.

Trains between Brighton and Cambridge, and between Horsham and Peterborough will run to / from London Bridge.

Additional services will run between London King's Cross and Peterborough.

Services to / from Ely will call additionally at stations between Royston and Stevenage. Some Cambridge services will run to an amended timetable and start from / terminate at Finsbury Park.

You can use your ticket on London Underground services between Finsbury Park and King's Cross / St Pancras.

After 13:45:

Trains will not run between London King's Cross / London St Pancras  International and Finsbury Park.

Trains between Brighton and Cambridge, and between Horsham and Peterborough will run to / from London Bridge.

Additional services will run between Finsbury Park and Peterborough.

Before 06:00, buses will replace trains between Finsbury Park and Welwyn Garden City / Stevenage via Hertford North / Hitchin.

From 06:00 until the end of the day, no trains will run between Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross / London St Pancras International. Trains to / from Moorgate will run to an amended timetable. You can use London Underground between Finsbury Park and Kings Cross / St Pancras to complete your journey.

Sunday 6 June

All day, no trains will run between Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross / London St Pancras International. Trains to / from Moorgate will run to an amended timetable. You can use London Underground between Finsbury Park and Kings Cross / St Pancras to complete your journey.

Before 07:10, buses will replace trains between Finsbury Park and Potters Bar / Gordon Hill.

Before 10:45, buses will replace trains between Hitchin / Huntingdon and Peterborough.

Hull Trains:

Friday 4 June

A reduced and amended timetable will run to / from London Kings Cross before 12:00. After 12:00, no trains will run.

Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 June

Trains will be diverted to run to / from London St Pancras International instead of London Kings Cross and will also not call at Doncaster, Retford or Grantham

LNER:

Friday 4 June

after 13:50 will terminate at Peterborough / St Neots instead of London Kings Cross. After 13:50, replacement buses will run between Peterborough / St Neots and Bedford, connecting at Bedford with Thameslink services to / from London St Pancras International.

Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 June

No trains will run to / from London Kings Cross or London St Pancras International via Finsbury Park.

No LNER trains will run between Grantham and Peterborough, due to the work taking place north of Peterborough. LNER will run an hourly service between:

  • Scotland / Newcastle and Grantham.
  • Leeds and Grantham.
  • Scotland / Newcastle and Doncaster.
 

This work is taking place as part of engineering work in the London Kings Cross area from 26 February to the 6 June inclusive, more information on this can be found here.

Engineering work is taking place between London Kings Cross and New Barnet / Gordon Hill, resulting in the closure of some lines.

Until 08:45 no trains will run between London Kings Cross / Moorgate and New Barnet / Gordon Hill.

There will be rail replacement buses in operation between:

  • Finsbury Park and New Barnet
  • Alexandra Palace and Gordon Hill

These buses will be unable to call at Harringay or Hornsey. You may use London Buses and London Underground services to help complete your journeys to and from these stations.

Engineering work is taking place between Alexandra Palace and Stevenage via Hertford North before 09:40, and between Finsbury Park and London St Pancras International before 10:15, closing various lines.

Before 09:40:

Buses will replace trains between Stevenage and Alexandra Palace / Finsbury Park.

Before 10:15:

Thameslink services from Cambridge / Peterborough via London St Pancras International will run between Cambridge / Peterborough and Finsbury Park only.

Additionally:

  • The 08:53 Gatwick Airport to Cambridge service will terminate at East Croydon.
  • The 08:28 Cambridge to Brighton service will start from East Croydon at 10:08.

Until Thursday 3 June:

A temporary reduced timetable will operate to and from London Kings Cross. 

Friday 4 June:

No trains will run to / from London Kings Cross or London St Pancras International via Finsbury Park from the early afternoon.

Engineering work is also taking place just north of Peterborough. Many customers will need to use a rail replacement bus for part of their journey. 

Saturday 5 to Sunday 6 June:

No trains will run to / from London Kings Cross or London St Pancras International via Finsbury Park.

No trains will run between Grantham and Peterborough, due to the work taking place north of Peterborough. Rail replacement buses may be required for part of your journey.

  • St Neots: Lifts out of order

    The lifts will be out of order between the Main Entrance (Hawkesden Road) and the footbridge from now until further notice at St Neots station.
