Facilities on our trains
We want everyone to be able to travel on our trains, and we’re doing everything we can to make them accessible.
Most of our trains have:
- wheelchair spaces
- priority seats
- visual and audio announcements
- warning beepers on doors
Some of our trains also have accessible toilets.
Assistance dogs are welcome on all of our services.
Let us know if you need help getting onto the train or to your seat or wheelchair space.

Wheelchair spaces
All of our trains have wheelchair spaces on some carriages, which are clearly marked on the outside of the train. Wheelchair spaces are available within standard class accommodation only.
You can also use these spaces if you have a mobility scooter.
Find out more about using wheelchairs and mobility scooters on our trains.
Priority seats
We have priority seats for anyone who finds it hard to stand up on busy trains.
You can get a free priority card if, for instance, you’re disabled, elderly or pregnant. You can show the card to other passengers to ask for a seat.
Find out more about applying for a priority card.
Visual and audio announcements
Most of our trains have automated visual and audio announcement systems.
These will let you know:
- the main stops and the destination of the train
- the name of the next station
- the name of the station when you arrive
We’ll also tell you if there is a short platform at the next station or a big gap between the train and the platform.
Our doors also have beepers to alert you when they’re opening and closing.
On some of our older trains the driver or conductor will make the announcements about the stations over the speakers.
Support while you’re travelling
We may also be able to provide support for you while you’re travelling.
Let us know we can improve
We’d love to hear from you after you’ve travelled to see how it went.
