What ticket is available through the Summer Sale?

Promo Advance tickets are single (one-way) tickets for travel on a specific train for a journey listed below in Standard Class.

Where can I buy a Promo Advance ticket?

Promo Advance tickets will be available to buy at Ticket Offices as well as online from Tuesday 6 August until Monday 19 August 2024.

But there is a limited number of tickets available for each train and they can’t be bought on the day of travel.

Subject to availability, tickets must be bought at least 3 days before the date of travel.

Are Child tickets included in the Summer sale?

Child Promo Advance tickets can be purchased as part of the Summer sale and are priced at half price.

When can I travel on Promo Advance tickets?

The travel period will be from Tuesday 20 August until Tuesday 3 September 2024.

They will not be available on any Gatwick Express trains or on every Great Northern, Southern or Thameslink train that operates between the stations listed below.

There will also be some dates during the travel period where no Promo Advance tickets will be available to buy, due to engineering work or large events.

Which journeys will have the Promo Advance tickets?

Below is a complete list of the journeys where these tickets will be available in either direction, along with the price for an Adult passenger:

Can I use my Railcard with this offer?

No Railcard, GroupSave or any other discount can be applied to Promo Advance tickets.

What restrictions are there with Summer Sale tickets?

Promo Advance tickets are ONLY valid:

• On the date and train service(s) shown on your ticket(s) or separate reservation coupon(s). If you travel on a different train than the one shown, your ticket isn’t valid for travel.
• For the journey from the origin station to the destination station shown on your ticket. They are not valid to start or finish your journey at any other station enroute.
• From an intermediate station to change to / from connecting services that are either shown on your ticket(s) or on a valid travel itinerary.

They’re not valid for travel:

• In First Class accommodation.
• On Gatwick Express services or on any other operators’ services.

Am I able to change my ticket if my plans change?

Promo Advance tickets are valid only on the date and train shown on the ticket and seat reservation and are non-refundable. Changes to the time or date of travel are possible before departure of the first reserved train. Differences in fare and administration fees may apply.

If your booked train with your Summer Sale ticket is cancelled, the standard rules for Advance tickets remain the same, allowing travel on the next available service on the same journey.

Will I be eligible for compensation if my train is delayed?

The normal Delay Repay compensation rules still apply.

Refund rules

The same refund rules that apply to Advance tickets also apply to Promo Advance tickets, which are non-refundable.

Unless the reason for the refund is covered by Condition 30.1 of the National Rail Conditions of Travel.

These terms and conditions apply to the Great Northern Summer Sale, a promotion managed by Great Northern Railway across the Promotional Period.

• The Promotional Period will start on 6 August 2024 and will end when all the promotional tickets are sold or on 19 August 2024, whichever is sooner, for travel between 20 August 2024 and 3 September 2024. The number of Promo Advance tickets available during the Promotional Period is limited and subject to availability
• The Summer Sale tickets are selected Promo Advance tickets with fixed fares for the promotional period and selected journeys and may not represent the lowest available fare for a particular journey
• Promo Advance tickets must be purchased in advance of the date of travel during the promotional periods and are available for travel on any day during the stated travel period, subject to availability
• Promo Advance tickets are available to purchase via the Great Northern Railway website & app and all other ticket retailers for the Promotional Period & Ticket Offices. Please contact the relevant participating Train company if you require assistance or have specific accessibility requirements

Selected Routes, Limited Availability and Exclusions

1. The number of Promo Advance tickets offered across each selected route during the promotional period will vary and are limited in number
2. Promo Advance tickets are not available on all routes and will not be available during peak times
3. Availability is subject to specific travel exclusions across some routes due to engineering works or large events
4. Railcard discounts do not apply to Promo Advance tickets, and no other discounts can be used in conjunction with the Promo Advance tickets
5. Child Promo Advance tickets can be purchased as part of the Summer Sale and are priced at half price
6. This promotion is limited to Standard Class tickets
7. Promo Advance tickets are valid only on the date and train shown on the ticket and seat reservation and are non-refundable. Changes to the time or date of travel are possible before departure of the first reserved train. Differences in fare and administration fees may apply
8. If your booked train with your Promo Advance ticket is cancelled, the standard rules for Advance fares remain the same, allowing travel on the next available service on the same journey
9. If your booked train is delayed, the normal Delay Repay compensation is applied

1. Great Northern reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions without notice and to take appropriate action to close the offer or withdraw the Promo Advance tickets from sale at any time
