Essential works are required on the footbridge where the ticket office is located at this station. The current ticket office will need to be removed to provide access for the work.
As part of this refurbishment, in order to provide better access for passengers by opening up the top of platform staircases, the current ticket office will not be replaced. A new customer information and assistance office will be constructed on the London bound platform instead. This would help improve staff visibility and opportunities to assist passengers whilst also improving safety and security on the station.
The station will continue to have staff available from the first train of the day to the last, 7 days a week, to provide customer assistance and information.
Govia Thameslink Railway is proposing to make changes to the ticket office opening hours at this station.
The current opening times are Monday to Friday: 06:20 to 12:45
It is proposed that the ticket office will permanently close.
Once the bridge repairs start the ticket office will be removed. We are not proposing to install another ticket office due to the very low level of ticket office sales. Most passengers are travelling using Oyster and contactless. We will continue to have a self- service ticket machine available for use at the station and a new staffed assistance office on the London bound platform.
As part of the works the entrance to the top of the platform staircases will be opened, reducing congestion around the entry and exit points from the station.
