The festive timetable will support significant engineering works over the Christmas and New Year period and help to ensure planned services are as reliable as possible with the ongoing impact of coronavirus.
Changes to the timetable for the festive period
Monday 20 December – Thursday 23 December 2021

Christmas Eve Friday 24 December

- Trains will finish running earlier than normal on all routes with last trains departing central London from around 20:00

Christmas Day Saturday 25 December 2021
- No service
Boxing Day 26 December 2021
- A limited service will run on Southern, with trains between London Bridge and Three Bridges, between London Bridge and Brighton, between London Bridge and Sutton via Selhurst and West Croydon and between London Bridge to East Croydon via Crystal Palace
- No trains will run on Gatwick Express, Great Northern or Thameslink

From Monday 27 December until Monday 3 January
- A revised service will run on all routes
- From Monday 27 December until 3 January, due to re-signalling works at London Victoria, most trains will be diverted to run to and from London Bridge. Gatwick Express trains will not run
- From Monday 27 December until 3 January, trains will run to a revised timetable between Sutton and St Albans/Luton due to engineering work
- On Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December, no trains will run between Finsbury Park and Moorgate due to engineering work

This change is expected to help ensure services across the network are more reliable, but we recognise it will affect your journey as you may need to use an alternative route. We are very sorry for the impact this will have on you.

Southern
Milton Keynes to Clapham Junction
Southern will run two services per day in each direction:
- 05:27 Balham to Milton Keynes Central
- 07:01 Milton Keynes Central to Selhurst
- 17:16 Selhurst to Milton Keynes Central
- 19:16 Milton Keynes Central to Selhurst
At other times, you will have to use alternative routes to complete your journey and the following ticket acceptance is in place:
- London Northwestern services between:
- Milton Keynes Central and London Euston, for tickets routed via the West London line or Southern Only.
- London Overground services between:
- Watford Junction and London Euston, for tickets routed via the West London line or Southern Only.
Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction, for tickets routed Southern Only.
- London Underground services between:
- Victoria and Euston on the Victoria Line
- Southern services between:
- Clapham Junction and London Victoria, for tickets routed via the West London line
Beckenham Junction to London Bridge via Crystal Palace
The following services will run:
Towards London Bridge:
- 07:45 Beckenham Junction to London Bridge
- 08:45 Beckenham Junction to London Bridge
- 16:45 Beckenham Junction to London Bridge
- 17:45 Beckenham Junction to London Bridge
- 18:45 Beckenham Junction to London Bridge
Towards Beckenham Junction:
- 07:01 London Bridge to Beckenham Junction
- 08:01 London Bridge to Beckenham Junction
- 16:01 London Bridge to Beckenham Junction
- 17:01 London Bridge to Beckenham Junction
- 18:01 London Bridge to Beckenham Junction
- 00:01 London Bridge to Crystal Palace
At other times, you will have to use alternative routes to complete your journey and the following ticket acceptance is in place:
- London Buses on routes 2, 68, 196, 432 and 468, between:
- West Norwood and Tulse Hill stations.
- London Trams services between:
- East Croydon and Beckenham Junction.
- Southeastern services can be used for:
- Any reasonable journey in the local area.
But only tickets that are valid via London, can be used to travel via London Terminal stations.
Caterham / Tattenham Corner to London Bridge
A shuttle service will run between Tattenham Corner and Purley every 30 minutes at busy times and hourly throughout the day.
Caterham to London Bridge services via Tulse Hill will continue. Fast services to London Bridge will not run.
Brighton to Southampton Central
Direct services between Brighton and Southampton Central will not run between Barnham and Southampton Central. Customers should change at Barnham for alternative services between Barnham and Portsmouth Harbour or Southampton.
Thameslink
St Albans City to Sutton
The current four trains per hour service on this route will reduce to two trains per hour in each direction. One train per hour will travel via Wimbledon and one via Hackbridge.
Peterborough to Horsham
Services on this route are planned to operate normally between Monday 13 and Friday 17 December. From Monday 20 December to Friday 24 December only, the current two trains per hour service on this route will be reduced to one train per hour in each direction
On all other routes, services will operate as shown in the journey planners, however please do check your journey before you travel for late notice alterations.
