Improving accessibility

We’re making sure our plans to modernise the railway benefit all of our passengers – especially those who need extra help getting around and those with disabilities.

What we’re doing

When making plans for improvements to our services and facilities, we want to make sure we fully consider the needs of passengers with disabilities. So we’ve been working with the experts – accessibility user groups London TravelWatch and Transport Focus.

With their input plus feedback from our passengers, we’ve planned a number of accessibility improvements:

  • Making sure staff is more visible on board trains and in stations, so passengers can find assistance more easily
  • Providing staff with sufficient training in ramps and other tools
  • Installing induction loops in appropriate areas at our stations
  • Keeping waiting rooms, toilets and lifts open for longer at our busier stations
