Caring for our people

This is a challenging time for everyone. Our key workers are working hard to keep services running so other essential workers can get to their jobs as safely as possible. Keeping our people safe and sound, not just by following official health advice but by helping them stay connected and healthy. Our dedicated people are always looking for ways they can improve the service they give to our customers and make their experience better.

To support their learning, to enhance customer service and leadership skills, and also for their own careers, we have created an online development hub so they can continue to access training and support online. Whether our people want to refresh their skills, remind themselves of advice and guidance or develop their career by learning new skills, there is a module for them.

We also know in these unsettling times, our mental health can suffer. That’s why we have created peer support networks to keep our teams connected, especially for our colleagues who have had to shield during this time. This peer-to-peer support group consists of over 30 GTR volunteers trained in wellbeing and mental health support, with 25 colleagues receiving support from these volunteers.

We have also developed learning tools for our people to enhance their understanding of mental health for both themselves and to support their colleagues.
